Automation

After more than 10 years of experience, I met many recurrents issues and needs (ex: Software installation, Certificates installations, Certificates generations, Applicative deployments...).

When Production is your work core, you quickly are disturbed by "one shot" requests from clients who needs urgently something! Problem is that when you work in parallel in some projects, you often loose the focus from big topics.

Second effect is that you quickly feel overloaded by basic level 1 requests and you do not progress in the real topics.

Automation is the action to make a manual task implementable without human action needed.

Automation is more than a technical concept, it's a philosophy which can be applied everydays for each 10 minutes recurrent task.

In my opinion, I really dislike repeat 2 times the same action. I'll search everytime to automate each time I can all these kind of tasks.

For me it's a double profit: We save time for interesting/important topic and...automate is an interesting topic!

A wise person asked me if I could find a constraint in the fact of automate. After thinking on it some seconds, the answer is obvious. I can see 2 cases where it can occurs:

"Automation action imply more constraints than performing the action manually"

My opinion is that the way to automate this action is not optimized

"Automation make you lose your job!"

My experience showed me that it's not true. We work with a level 1 team in Bangalore and except the turn over already existing we did not lost anybody since we began our first automation project (WABOT) for Société Générale).
